Dispensaries and retailers have continued to come throughout 2021. 1,846 licenses were issued through August 2021, and the year ended with 2,602 licenses. Seven states issued a hundred or more licenses with Oklahoma keeping the crown for issuing the most dispensary licenses.

At the very end of 2021, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy received 1,462 applications for 73 dispensary licenses. The winners will be chosen by lottery in January 2022. Ohio is a limited license state and currently has 61 dispensaries around the state, so the addition of these news stores is significant and will assuredly be welcomed by the 231,165 registered patients in the state.

Cannacurio: Cultivation Licenses 2018-2020

After waiting for some late Oklahoma license renewals to settle, we wanted to show the growth in cultivation licenses over the last three years. As we shared throughout 2020, the license growth has primarily occurred in California and Oklahoma. They account for 70% of the active cultivation licenses in the US, up from 67% in 2019 and 51% in 2018.
