In the last of our 2023 license recaps, we turn to manufacturing, the least volatile of the three we cover. At the end of 2023, there were 744 new manufacturing licenses issued in 2023, and as we see with other activities, most new licenses were issued by a handful of states.

Of the three most common cannabis licenses, manufacturing licenses are the least prone to volatile swings. At the end of Q3, there were 6,304 manufacturing licenses in the database at 5,771 facilities.

Of the three most common cannabis licenses, manufacturing licenses are the least prone to up or downward swing. There are currently just over 6,153 manufacturing licenses in the Cannabis Market Intelligence Platform at 5,771 facilities. At the end of Q1 we tracked 6,200 licenses at 5,800 facilities.

One part of the Cannabis value chain that we have not covered this year is Manufacturing. We ended 2019 with 4,804 active licenses. So far this year states have added 178 more or 3.7%.

This week we turn our attention to another part of the cannabis value chain: Manufacturing. This includes companies that create, infuse and make products or extracts. Nationwide there are 46 different license names for this activity and two thirds are from California.
