Twitter is still an important channel for cannabis businesses and cannabis-related businesses to indirectly market their products and services. In its latest research, Pew Research Center found that Twitter is used by more U.S. adults in 2021 than WhatsApp, TikTok, and Reddit. Here’s the breakdown by the percentage of U.S. adult users:

  1. YouTube – 81%
  2. Facebook – 69%
  3. Instagram – 40%
  4. Pinterest – 31%
  5. LinkedIn – 28%
  6. Snapchat – 25%
  7. Twitter – 23%
  8. Whatsapp – 23%
  9. TikTok – 21%
  10. Reddit – 18%
  11. Nextdoor – 13%

If the Twitter user demographics reported by Pew Research sound like your target customer, then Twitter could be a great place for your brand to stand out.

According to Pew Research’s study, 23% of U.S. adults use Twitter in 2021, with adoption higher among men (25%) than women (22%), and among survey respondents who self-identified as Black (29%) and Hispanic (23%) than White (22%).

Furthermore, U.S. adults between the ages of 18 and 29 are more likely to use Twitter (42%) than any other age group (27% of people ages 30-49, 18% of people ages 50-64, and 7% of people age 65 and older).

Pew Research also found that 46% of U.S. adults who use Twitter access it at least once per day, making it an active platform to showcase your brand.
